A Guide to Hydronic Heating.

Homeowners are always looking for a quiet, energy efficient heating system to keep their home comfortable for the entire family.  Hydronic heating systems use water to move heat from where it is produced to where it is needed.  Modern technology allows for the exact comfort settings to be experienced quietly and efficiently.

You have several different options for designing your new radiant system. The basic components of a boiler, liquid, plumbing manifold, tubing, and heat exchanger are the essentials, but there are several ways that this system can be installed and operated. That ranges from tankless water heaters to radiant floors to outdoor hydronic heat.  Consult an expert to see which is right for your particular situation.

In West Los Angeles the right number to call is 310-473-8111.  That is the home of JO-MI plumbing.  They have been serving the plumbing needs of West LA for over 60 years.  Best of all they stay one step ahead of all of the latest technology.  Call them today for more information on Hydronic Heating for your castle.  You’ll be glad you did!

Is a Home Water Filtration System Right For Me?

In the beginning it is important to choose where you want the water to be filtered.  A whole house filtration system filters the water as soon as it enters your home.  Can your home benefit from a whole house water filtration system as opposed to a point-of-use system?  Here are the tips that will help you answer that question.

Do you drink water from more than one tap?  Is it important to your family to have pure water when you are showering?  When you run your appliances such as the dish washer do you want that water to be filtered as well?  If you want to protect your pipes from corrosion then a whole house system is mandatory.

These questions and more can be helpfully answered by your West Los Angeles plumber, JO-MI Plumbing.  For decades your friends at JO-MI have been attending to West LA’s plumbing problems as well as upgrades such as this.  Give JO-MI Plumbing a call today at (310) 473-8111 and discover the virtues of a whole house water filtration system.

Installing Copper Piping.

If the pipes in your home are nearly 2 decades old or even older, chances are it is time to repipe your home’s plumbing.  In the past, homes were built with galvanized plumbing. Over time it deteriorates and rusts. Some telltale signs are your appliances filling up more slowly than they used to, or maybe it’s a lack of pressure in the shower. You may also notice a brownish color to your water. Eventually, this can lead to water that is undrinkable and unsafe.

The reason why this happens is that the diameter of the galvanized pipes will slowly diminish from rust and debris. Over time, you may notice a less than pleasant odor and low water pressure. You may even notice leaks springing up, which could result in mold and further damage to your home.

The solution to this problem is a re-piping of your existing plumbing with copper. This will drastically improve the quality and safety of your home. Putting it off for too long can result in disastrous consequences.  Contact West Los Angeles area JO-MI Plumbing today at 310-473-8111 for more information on replacing your home’s current plumbing with long lasting copper piping.  The future safety of your home and even your family’s health may depend on it.

How Can I Save Money On My Water Bill?

The more a toilet flushes, the higher your plumbing bill will be.  If you live in an apartment you usually need to cover your own expenses regarding utilities.  Even if you don’t have to you will be on a short leash with the landlord if the water bill gets out of hand.  Reducing plumbing costs in an apartment requires cooperation.

Shower Instead of Bathe

There is significant savings of water when you do not fill up a big bath tub every night.  Baths are simply more expensive than showers.  At least mix it up.  Take more 5 minute showers and less long, hot baths and your water bill will be reduced.

Flush Less

Two to eight gallons of water are lost on average every time a toilet is flushed, so save water by only flushing the toilet when necessary. Flushing even once or twice a day less than you are currently not only saves you money, but helps the environment.

Check for Leaks

A dripping faucet can waste hundreds of gallons of water over the course of a month. Annually, these gallons add up to a lot of financial waste. Make sure you shut off each faucet completely when you are done using it. Also be sure to inspect your pipes regularly for water leaks.

For any plumbing need contact West Los Angeles area JO-MI Plumbing at 310-473-8111 for more information or help on saving money and the environment.

Need a New Water Heater?

Before you decide to spend several hundred dollars for a storage-tank heater or even thousands for a tankless or solar model, find out if your old water heater can be fixed. A corroded storage-tank model is beyond repair, but a leaky drain or pressure-relief valve or perhaps a burned-out heating element can often be fixed. Here is a simple rule of thumb: Consider a repair if the labor cost (which warranties often exclude) averages less than $50 per year over the years left in the warranty. Otherwise, buy a new one, especially if the warranty has run out.

Once you have done your homework and determined the proper course of action make sure that you contact JO-MI Plumbing in West Los Angeles.  They will help you with your decision to repair or replace your water heater.  Beyond that, if replacement is the correct option for you they will help you with the most efficient choice.

JO-MI Plumbing and Solar Inc. serving West Los Angeles for more than 60 years wants to save you money!  For example, installing a tankless water heater is breakthrough technology heating only the amount of water needed - unlike those inefficient old tanks - drastically lowering your energy bills.  Not only that, but they take up far less room than tanks, last nearly twice as long, and can be mounted on virtually any wall in your home.  Call JO-MI Plumbing today at (310) 473-8111.
